DVD Catalyst includes support for almost any device capable of playback of WMV or DIVX files, and in addition, Playstation Portable and Ipod Video formats are also included. There is no need to purchase different versions of a program if you own multiple devices. In addition, DVD Catalyst/PocketDVD upgrades to any version have always been, and will always be free for previous customers.
The trial version, unlike competitor programs is fully functional for 7 full days. Instead of crippling our software with only small 5 minute conversions, you actually have the full power of the program available to you for a week. PocketPC/Smartphone 2000, 2002, Windows Mobile 2003,SE,2005
DVD Catalyst can create video content for these devices for any screen size, and almost any quality possible. Relying on the powerfull Windows Media Encoder codec's (download) it can create files using Windows Media 7 (2000 series devices) 8(2002 series devices) or 9(2003 series and up). DVD Catalyst is the only product that offers support for older devices, as well as the latest HandheldPC, Windows CE 2.x and up
By installing TCPMP (download) you can playback DIVX files created using DVD Catalyst. For these older devices, special effort has been put in to create the best possible video experience for your device. Building on the "ScreenRating value" first implemented in PocketDVD, a setting, created in conjuction with HPC:Factor, the quality of the resulting video gets adjusted to optimum settings for your specific device. To make the use of screenrating even easier, a special option to load TCPMP benchmark files for automatic calculation has been included, so no need for the calculator anymore. As above, TCPMP provides the best playback of video for these devices. DIVX is the recommended format for conversion using DVD Catalyst, and due to some older models not having a lot of processor power, running a benchmark is recommended, in combination with the screenrating feature mentioned above. A memory card, in combination with a card reader is recommended for transferring files to your Palm device. Playstation Portable
The Playstation Portable(PSP) can accept two different formats of video content. DVD Catalyst offers both generic MPEG4 and MP4 Advanced (AVC). For PSP's with firmware version lower then 2.0, only generic MPEG4 will play back ,while later firmware versions include support for the far better quality AVC format. DVD Catalyst creates standard thumnail files for the files, as well as that it creates the required folder structure for the PSP in the selected video folder, but also provides an easy to use screenshot feature to use a screenshot of the movie for the display on the PSP.
IPOD Video
The newest in portable video devices. Impressive specifications, while still retaining it's portability. The IPOD is capable of playback of the same file formats as the PSP, but due to the virtually unlimited storage space, in combination with the TV-out functionality, the quality can be even better. Similar to the IPOD, but more friendly in file formats, Archos devices can support WMV9 in combination with different profiles, including Simple Profile, as well as DIVX and XVID codec's. Later models also include support for both the MPEG4 formats used in IPOD and PSP, and all these formats are availiable for choice in DVD Catalyst. Features Overview
DVD and Video conversion in one application
Framerate adjustment, to increase quality on lower video quality settings, or improve playback on your device.
Multiple device support, no need for separate applications, one program does it all.
Region free. Even if your DVD drive in your computer is region locked, DVD Catalyst has the capability of converting the DVD anyway.
Original Aspect. Competitor applications usualy have issues with using the correct aspect of the movie, but using mplayer/mencoder technology, DVD Catalyst does not suffer these issues.
No codecs required for divx, not even a DVD player application. Conversion to DIVX/XVID formats from DVD, requires absolutely nothing else then a DVD player and a working windows installation. No incompatibilities with different DVD programs, and no need to install anything else.
Batch conversion. You can convert an entire DVD, including special features or multiple episodes with just a few clicks of a button. Multiple DVD drives, mounted iso images, all supported, and can all be added to the list to run overnight.
Subtitle / International Language Support selection, you can include subtitles with your conversion, if available, as well as pick a different language as well. Even in Video file mode, if multiple languages are available, you can choose.
Chapter Split / Selection. After the enormous amount of requests to include it back into the program after removal from PocketDVD 2.0, Chapter selection is back, and for PSP users, DVD Catalyst can even automatically generate screenshots for each resulting file based upon its selection.
Any screen size desired. DVD Catalyst offers a selection of standard screensizes, but these do not limit your choice, you can set any maximum size you desire, and DVD Catalyst will scale the video accordingly.
Cropping (offset) and Stretch support. You can crop off black borders to increase quality, you can crop of sides of the video to increase screen filling on your device, and even stretch the movie in width or height to improve your quality.
Adjust Start position/Stop position. To remove the start and/or ending credits of your resulting video file to reduce file size.
Contrast, Brightness and Volume settings.
Screenrating optimizations, combined with a simple benchmark of a video file in TCPMP, provides you the best quality video your (older) device can handle.
Speed. Others claim to be 300% faster. Sure, but compared to what?
And, if there is anything missing, let us know by email, and we will do our best to include it in a future version. Most of the features added to the program come from actual users of the product and simply requested something more. If your device is NOT supported, let us know as well, so we can do our best to put it in, with your help as a beta tester.
